NETWORKING IN NEW YORK

French American Chamber of Commerce

For more than a century, the French-American Chamber of Commerce (FACC) has been the country’s premier association devoted exclusively to the development and improvement of economic, commercial and financial relations between the United States and France.  The FACC actively serves its bi-national, bicultural network of 900+ members in New York, and more than 5,000 in 18 Chapters nationally, through networking, information sharing, and professional development.  With a strong American presence, the FACC offers a unique platform for exchange between professionals from the two countries.

Although the FACC’s members include the C-level executives from all CAC 40 companies with their U.S. headquarters in the New York area, more than 50% of FACC members come from companies of less than 250 employees in the world.  This diverse and dynamic group makes the FACC a valuable platform for companies of any size – from start-ups to multinationals.

FACC event formats range from roundtable discussions to professional networking gatherings.  Panels and seminars are informative, timely and interactive. They have addressed a wide variety of topics related to the financial, legal, human resources and other business issues that impact international business executives, including most notably New York’s Tech, Entrepreneur and PME communities.

FACC networking events provide a platform for business development and information exchange. Events are held throughout the year in a variety of exciting venues around Manhattan, including the Central Park Boathouse, the Boat Basin and World Yacht, as well as such member locations as Roche Bobois; the Maille boutique, Uptogo Software, Cercle Rouge and Carré d’Artistes Gallery.

The FACC is a member of the European-American Chamber of Commerce in the United States and the French Chambers of Commerce and Industry International, an association of 112 French Chambers present in 82 countries.

Consulate General of France in New York

Consulate General of France in New York In the Spring of 2014, with the support of tech entrepreneurs and institutions, the Consulate General of France founded a Club for French digital professionals in New York (Club French Tech NY). This club aims to forge closer ties between French expatriates working in the digital sector in New York, and to allow them to benefit from a professional network in their field. These meetings also ambition to favor encounters between start-ups and French and American investors.

The Consulate General of France regularly organizes French Tech events that follow two formats:

  • Quarterly meetings bringing together approximately 150 guests around a guest or a specific topic. These events provide an informal exchange setting for French expatriates working in New York, and allow newcomers to become more familiar with the local ecosystem. High profile professionals from the Tech sector gave presentations as part of this series, such as Ms. Alicia Glen, New York City’s Deputy Mayor for Economic Development, or the CTO for New York City, Ms. Minerva Tantoco – this latter conference was organized in partnership with the French-American Chamber of Commerce. The founder of Gilt, Kevin Ryan, also gave a talk.

  • Monthly breakfasts in partnership with French Founders, Business France or other partners, bringing together start-ups, experienced entrepreneurs and investors. During these meetings, two start-ups present their project to other entrepreneurs and potential investors.
